Playa del Sardinero
My feet are happy and awakened by the heat.
It just means I have to skip instead of walk to the sea.
It’s so predictably comforting.
The cerulean curve.
The waves that come in and retreat.

The first day I’m hesitant,
And only make it ankle deep.
And then thoughtless diving into the blue.
Like it is some great feat.

Being landlocked never felt right, and sand never got to me.
People say the ocean is life giving.
Now I know what they mean.
